The Maison Française d'Oxford and the Rothermere American Institute are delighted to welcome the conference ‘Love and Lenses: Photographic Couples, Gender Relationships, and Transatlantic Networks in the Long Nineteenth Century.’
The conference is being organised by Dr. Emily Brady (Broadbent Junior Research Fellow, Rothermere American Institute) and Martyna Zielinska (DPhil, Université de Paris Cité, LARCA). The event will take place at the Maison Française on the 12th, and at the Rothermere American Institute on the 13th.

This conference will include two public keynotes: Dr Carolin Görgen (Online, Zoom Registration required): ‘‘I know what I’m doing’ – Female Empowerment and Gendered Ideas of Photography in the Transatlantic Camera Club Network’ on the 12th of October 2023. The second keynote is: Professor Elizabeth Edwards (In-person at the RAI) ‘Bonds, Attachments and Networks: Photographies of Connection’ on the 13th of October 2023. Both of these keynotes will be open to the public.
